You may also be interested in joining our support network, H.O.P.E. (Helping Oncology Patients with Education), which is available for caregivers and their patients. The H.O.P.E. program is comprised of trained support volunteers who are only a phone call away. You can sign up to become part of the network, and speak to other caregivers or patients who understand what you're going through right now - and can help you through the rest of the cancer journey.

Help Your Patient During Treatment
Designed to help you during the difficult time ahead, By My Side™ offers simple steps you can take right from the start to help your patient during treatment.

Learn all you can about chemotherapy, its risks, and how to help your patient reduce them.
Help your patient be protected against infection and manage some of chemotherapy's other side effects.
Rely on your patient's health care team whenever you need more information or support. There are many sources of information and support that may be helpful at this time, including the health care professionals at the clinic or office.

The diagnosis and treatment of cancer is a challenging experience for everyone. Being aware of the side effects that can occur with chemotherapy can help ensure important questions are answered to help with decisions during this difficult time. Of course, you should never forget that fighting cancer is not a challenge you and your patient should face alone. It's a team effort—when it comes to receiving support or providing support you both need and deserve, you may find it helpful to include family, friends, and members of your patient's health care team. Don't overlook the support and strength that these important people can bring to this experience.

Neulasta® (pegfilgrastim) is prescribed to reduce the risk of infection (initially marked by fever) in patients with some tumors receiving strong chemotherapy that decreases the number of infection-fighting white blood cells.

Important product safety information
Ruptured spleen (including fatal cases), serious allergic reactions, and a serious lung problem called acute respiratory distress syndrome have been reported. Call your doctor or seek emergency care right away if you have abdominal or shoulder tip pain, shortness of breath, trouble breathing, a fast rate of breathing, or any allergic reaction. The most common side effect of this injection is mild to moderate bone pain. If you have any questions about this information, be sure to discuss them with your doctor.
