Talk About Infection Protection

Among the most important things you can talk about is protecting yourself against one of the most serious risks of chemotherapy: infection. We suggest printing out the questions below and taking them directly to your doctor and nurse, so you can talk about the answers together.

Can I protect myself against infection right from the start of chemotherapy, instead of waiting until problems develop?
Am I at special risk for infection?
What are the signs of infection?
How serious is an infection?
How long will I be at risk for infection?
What should I do if I have a fever?
How are infections treated?

Ask if you need Neulasta® (pegfilgrastim)

Make sure you talk with your doctor and nurse about Neulasta®.

Is Neulasta® appropriate for my type of chemotherapy?
Will I receive Neulasta® with my first cycle of chemotherapy?
Will I receive Neulasta® with every cycle of chemotherapy?
How will I know that Neulasta® is working?
Are there side effects with Neulasta®?

Neulasta® (pegfilgrastim) is prescribed to reduce the risk of infection (initially marked by fever) in patients with some tumors receiving strong chemotherapy that decreases the number of infection-fighting white blood cells.
